After transporting four children and two adults to the hospital, firefighters from 6 different departments work to contain a fire on Mink Road in Pataskala early Friday October 12, 2007. The fire at 6770 Mink Road SW was first reported by a female who called the Licking County 911 center about midnight, but declined to give her name or number. Firefighters responding to the fire could see flames visible from their station house more than a mile away. According to West Licking Fire Department Chief Weber several of the children victims where transported with "serious life threatening smoke inhalation" to Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus. One of the adults and two of the children where found unconscious at the top of the second floor stairs by firefighters after they made entry into the burning structure. One of the adults made her own way out of the building. It was unknown how the other two children made their way out. The female caller to the 911 center was asked to leave her name and number, and while she declined, she continued talking to the operator until the operator told her he already had her number through caller ID, then she immediately hung up.
